Q.  Why go to training?

A.  Some training, such as Youth Protection, is mandatory for all BSA Volunteers and Professionals annually.  The training offered protects YOU, as well as our youth.  Other training is required to ensure the Boy Scout program is followed and is uniform and consistent from one unit to the next.  Without training, you may be exposing yourself to unnecessary risks in adverse situations.  For example, an unknowledgeable leader may take their unit on an outing, and unknowingly miss a key step in BSA safety rules.  Guess who's responsible and all alone?  Spend the time to get trained.  Following the BSA's guidelines ensures BSA backing, should it ever be needed.

Fast Start Training - This is a quick overview of various Cub Scout positions to help you get started while you're waiting on a training date for New Leader Essentials and Leader-specific training dates.  It's available online at the Council website.
